It’s been a few years since I posted a blog. So much has happened since then but it’s probably better to be in the moment now…… I’ve been taking an amazing online class called International Metalsmithing and it’s really inspired my artistic (but sometimes I don’t think I’m good enough) brain to stretch past all the fear and boundaries of what I “think” I can do! Now I’m doing it. Yep, there’s lots of happy mistakes and some not so happy….. but it really is all so good! Being in an amazing group of like minded artists and hearing their stories and experiences has been just what I needed. Prayer boxes, lots of special affirmations hidden inside….. Here’s a few pics, hope you enjoy 😊
Above is a carved African conus shell with a tourmaline and lots of detailed silver work. Inside, under the shell I’ve inscribed words of positivity, like a prayer box. I really love the vibe of this one.
I created the piece above using a fossilized walrus tooth slice, turquoise and lots of fine silver details. The tooth looks like it has a turquoise filling! But I think it’s just decay, it’s really super cool and interesting. I love everything about fossils!
For the first time in 2 years, I’ll be heading to a gem and mineral show this Saturday. There is also an arts and craft show in the same area……I am beyond excited! One good thing that came from all the craziness of Covid…..is a greater appreciation for the simpler things that we may have taken for granted previously.
This little freshwater pearl beauty is set in a water casted “pod”on a reticulated hollow form silver box. On the inside of the box I engraved a positive affirmation, all the good juju!
A sweet pair of lavender druzy earrings.
